4 Tips for a Stress-Free Wedding Day

If you’re in the midst of wedding planning, I understand your stress! You’re worried about choosing the right vendors, making sure everything fits your vision, figuring out who’s going to show up, and so much more. And on top of all the stress of planning, you’re probably worried about whether or not all of your hard work is even going to pay off! No one wants to feel stressed and overwhelmed on their wedding day, so here are four of my best tips to ensure that your day is as stress-free as possible!

1. Delegate responsibilities.

This first tip is honestly one of the biggest! You don’t want to be the one running around making sure that everything’s going according to plan on your wedding day. This is why it’s so important to have people in your corner that you trust—whether that’s family members, members of your bridal party, or even a wedding planner—that you can delegate tasks to before the big day, so that on the day-of you can just sit back and relax!

One thing I always stress to my brides is that your wedding day should be about being in the present and taking in every moment, not worrying about all the little details or things that could go wrong. As long as you focus on yourself and your partner on your Big Day, I promise that you’re going to have the best time!

2. Have a smaller wedding party (or no wedding party).

Having a smaller wedding party made up of just your closest friends/family is going to make the getting ready process so much easier! You won’t have to worry about accommodating to everyone or finding a getting ready space that’s big enough for all of you to fit (if your venue doesn’t have one)! Plus, the morning-of will be infinitely calmer and more peaceful than if you had 10+ people running around trying to get ready at the same time as you!

Or, you can opt to have no wedding party at all! This is something I’ve been seeing a lot more of recently. Brides will still get ready with their closest friends/family, but they do so more for the company and enjoyment of getting ready together! By not having a bridal party stand up at the alter with you two, it takes away the stress of feeling like everyone has to look picture-perfect, and you guys can just enjoy the morning with your favorite people!

3. Hire your photographer for a longer period of time so things aren’t rushed!

This is another big one!! The timeline of your wedding day has the power to either ease all of your stress, or put more stress on you tenfold. By hiring your wedding photographer for a longer period of time, you will have so much more time during your day to do everything you want to do without worrying about being on a time limit or missing any important memories being captured!

4. Have a detailed timeline and stick to it.

If you want your day to run smoothly, then having a detailed timeline (and sticking to it) is definitely the most important thing! Your wedding photographer and/or wedding planner should help you come up with and finalize this timeline to ensure that nothing’s being missed!

While sticking to your timeline as close as you can is important, if things fall behind (and they usually do), don’t worry. The people that you hired are professionals and know exactly how to adjust so that things can get back on track and continue to run smoothly!

I hope this helps! The biggest things that I would keep in mind if you want to truly enjoy your wedding day are: don’t let the little things get to you, focus on staying present in the moment, and surround yourself with people who love you and know how to make you laugh!

(It’s these exact tips that helped me cackle instead of cry when my husband ripped his pants on the day-of—twice!) You got this friend. ;)
